ABOUT US

At BikeGear360, we believe that finding the right cycling gear shouldn’t require a degree in materials science, a sponsored athlete’s budget, or hours lost down rabbit holes of contradictory forum advice. Whether you’re clipping in for the first time or you’ve already worn through three pairs of bib shorts this season, we’re here to cut through the noise — with honest reviews, expert guidance, and recommendations grounded in real miles, real British roads, and real-world conditions.

Our Story

It started, as most cycling obsessions do, with a problem. A few of us were tired of spending good money on gear that looked brilliant in a YouTube review filmed in Mallorca sunshine but fell apart the moment it met a soggy Tuesday commute through Manchester. Waterproof jackets that weren’t. Helmets that fit perfectly in a shop but rattled on every descent. Bike locks rated “Sold Secure Gold” that no one had actually tried to remove with a £12 angle grinder from Screwfix.

So we built BikeGear360 — a comprehensive cycling gear resource built specifically for riders in the UK. Not California. Not Copenhagen. Here. Where the roads are patchy, the weather is unpredictable, and a “dry weekend” is something you plan a 100km sportive around with cautious optimism.

What began as passionate cyclists sharing notes has grown into a trusted resource for thousands of UK riders across every discipline — from daily commuters in Bristol to weekend warriors hammering the Peak District, from e-bike converts in the suburbs to hardcore bikepackers plotting their next bikepacking route along the South Downs Way.

What We Do

Rigorous, Real-World Gear Testing

Every product we review gets put through its paces in actual British riding conditions. We test road helmets on Surrey hills and in driving rain. We evaluate bike lights on unlit country lanes in November — not in a lab with a lux meter. We take bikepacking bags on multiday routes, not just around the block. If a product claims to be waterproof, we ride in the kind of weather that made everyone else call it a rest day.

We assess everything: fit across different head shapes, durability after months of use, how a cycling jacket performs at mile 60 versus mile 6, whether a chain lube survives a Welsh winter or a wet commute through Edinburgh. First impressions are nice. Long-term performance is what actually matters.

Honest, Independent Reviews

We don’t accept payment from brands to write favourable reviews. Full stop. Our affiliate partnerships — including Amazon UK — help keep the lights on, but they never dictate what we recommend. If a product is overpriced, underperforms, or simply isn’t worth your money, we’ll say so plainly. Your trust is worth considerably more to us than a commission.

We cover the full price spectrum too. Not everyone has a Rapha budget, and the best gear for you isn’t always the most expensive. We’ll tell you when the budget option is genuinely brilliant and when paying more is actually worth it — because sometimes it is, and sometimes it absolutely isn’t.

UK-Specific Buying Guidance

This is where we’re different. We write specifically for UK cyclists — which means we understand the Cycle to Work Scheme, Sold Secure lock ratings, BS 6102/3 lighting standards, and why a “lightweight summer jersey” reviewed by an American website is essentially useless information for anyone commuting in Leeds in June.

We know which brands are beloved on these shores (hello, Endura, Exposure Lights, Litelok, and Science in Sport). We know what “practical” means when your bike spends half its life parked in a damp shed. And we know that for most UK riders, gear that works reliably in all conditions is worth far more than gear that looks spectacular in good ones.

Education & Gear Literacy

Beyond reviews, we help you actually understand what you’re buying. What does MIPS really do? Is tubeless worth the hassle for a commuter? What’s the difference between a £35 D-lock and a £150 one, and does it actually matter where you park? We translate the jargon — watts, grams, IP ratings, thread counts, Nm torque specs — into plain English that helps you make smarter decisions.

Our Values

Honesty Above Everything

A mediocre product with a great marketing budget is still a mediocre product. We call things as we find them — the good, the underwhelming, and the “send it back immediately.” We have no interest in writing glowing reviews that leave you disappointed at the till.

Performance in the Real World

Gear earns its recommendation on actual rides, not spec sheets. Something that looks phenomenal on paper but fails in the wet, the cold, or after six months of use simply doesn’t make the cut. British conditions are the benchmark. If it survives those, it earns a recommendation.

Value That Makes Sense

We respect that most cyclists are balancing gear budgets with mortgages, energy bills, and the quiet awareness that there’s always something else to spend money on. Our recommendations always weigh up price against genuine performance — not just against other premium options.

Inclusive Cycling

Cycling in the UK is wonderfully diverse. Commuters and racers. Beginners and veterans. City riders and trail shredders. We test and write for all of them — across body types, ability levels, cycling disciplines, and budgets — because great gear advice shouldn’t be limited to those who already know what they’re doing.

Why Trust Us?

We actually ride. Our team logs real miles in real conditions. We don’t review cycling gear from a desk; we review it from the saddle — on commutes, sportives, club runs, solo tours, and muddy trail days.

We’re independent. Brand partnerships and affiliate links help fund the site, but our editorial decisions are ours alone. No brand pays to appear in our recommendations, and no commission influences what we say.

We know the UK market. We understand Sold Secure, Cycle to Work, British Standards, Amazon UK delivery expectations, and the particular misery of discovering your new jacket isn’t actually waterproof on a motorway cycle path at 7:30am.

We’re honest about limitations too. Not every product suits every rider. We tell you who a product is ideal for — and just as importantly, who it isn’t.

Our Commitment to You

We’re here to help you:

  • Ride confidently with gear that performs where it matters — in the conditions you actually face
  • Spend wisely with clear assessments of value, longevity, and whether an upgrade is genuinely worth the money
  • Stay safe with up-to-date guidance on UK road legal lighting, certified helmets, and security ratings that actually hold up
  • Navigate the noise — separating genuine innovations from expensive marketing and fleeting trends
  • Understand your gear so you can make informed choices that suit your riding style, budget, and routes
